Thanksgiving in Gallup

We spent Thanksgiving in Gallup with Katie, RPG and company. I was a slug and didn't take many pictures and this was the only one that turned out good. Sorry Brad.

Hawaii 2012

Finally got around to posting some pictures of our Hawaii trip.

Here is a shot of us trying to survive a tsunami. The Air Force's action plan was "get out" they didn't even suggest we head for higher ground (guess they thought we could figure that out for ourselves). We ended up spending the night on a road beside a hospital that not only did not let us park in the parking lot, but didn't even want to let us use the rest room.

The tital wave ended up being one foot high and we survived to tell the story. Here is a shot of us at one of my favorite places where I was the center of attraction for a bunch of Japanese tourists, who gathered around me for pictures (I guess they thought I was Tom Selleck).

For my money the best shot of Honolulu is from Diamond Head so here you go.

The last two weeks were spent a Bellows AFB which is our favorite place to stay. I really like the sunrises. Believe it or not, there was no filter for this shot.

Sweet Home Alabama

We just got back from taking Audrey home to Alabama. As is our custom, we HAVE to go to the beach while we are there (since it is so close). Here is a shot of Panama City beach from the pool of our hotel.

We also HAVE to go to Destin to a restaurant called "The Crab Trap" where we always pig out on, you guessed it - crab. YUM!!!

Here is a shot of the famous boll weavel monument in Enterprise, AL. It seems that when the weavels killed the cotton, in desperation the farmers planted peanuts, and the rest is history.

On the way back to MO. we stopped in Magnolia. This is the first LDS chapel in the Southern States Mission and is one of the few chapels with a cemetery. It was built in 1913, the year Neva's Dad was born and he spent five years as the Branch President here when Neva was a kid. Neva's parents and paternal grandparents are buried here so we stopped to pay our respects.

I was able to snap this picture through the window. Now in your minds eye, picture a 12 year old Neva Martin giving a 2 1/2 minute talk.

LTC Westhoff's Retirement

I don't want to say that Neva was happy to retire but.....she formed a conga line to the door! :)

The Chaplain even dressed up for the occasion and told Neva he had written a special prayer for her! (Neva told him they would make a great ticket like Romney and Ryan!!)

COL Dominquez, the GLWACH Commander presented Neva with all sorts of loot for her "I Love me" wall!

CPT Curtright and staff presented Neva the best going away present I ever saw-- a case with mounted pictures of all the significant events in her 28+ year career. SUPER!!!

Here was the hard part for Neva -- she had to leave a great bunch of troops. Even I liked this crew.

Good Bye John Boy & Family

The last of July Neva and I flew to Denver to say goodbye to John Boy and his family who are moving to Japan, and can you believe it, they will be at the same place as Matt and Steph!!!!!

It was hard to say good bye but we were secretly happy because now we have even more reasons to go to Japan!!!!!
